Training and Development

A Training Directory is issued to all staff when joining Regard so that they are aware of the company’s expectations, which courses are available to them and the process to attend these courses. In 2015, we have run 465 internal courses with over 5500 attendees.

Our goal is for staff to complete all organisational excellence class based training within 6 months of joining the company. This includes:·

  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Fire Safety Awareness
  • Medication
  • Safeguarding

All staff will also complete 17 modules on e-learning including the following courses:

  • Common Induction Standards
  • Communication
  • COSHH
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Diet and Nutrition
  • Documentation and Record Keeping
  • Emergency First Aid at Work
  • Equality and Diversity
  • Fire Safety Awareness
  • Food Safety
  • Health and Safety
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Medication Awareness
  • Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
  • Mental Health
  • Moving and Handling
  • SOVA

We also have an additional 24 courses that are specific to different service groups including Autism, Diabetes Awareness, End of Life care, Makaton, Team Teach etc.

We recognise that effective management and good leadership are key to the delivery of good care and are developing our own leadership and training courses - Managing People at Work (3 days) and Recruiting and Interviewing Skills (one day), both of which have been approved as ‘Development Courses’ by the Institute of Leadership and Management.
