Specialism: The service is able to support individuals with a learning disability and or mental health needs, people with sensory loss/impairment, people with substance misuse issues or with a history of substance misuse issues. The property has some mobility adaption’s and is suitable for those with minor physical disabilities. We can take emergency placements.

Details of Vacancy: There is currently one ground floor room available at Strathnairn.

Type of Service: 24-hour supported living service.

Age Range: 18+

Current Profile of Service: Service users have individual rooms situated on the ground and first floor with shared use of the ground floor communal kitchen, lounge/diner and utility area. In addition, there is a self-contained garden.

Hours Provided: The Service is focused on developing positive outcomes for an individual. The ethos of the service is to develop and grow their independent skills to enable them to move into a more independent living position. Sleep in shift and hours are provided in line with assessed needs.

Focus of Service: To support and enable people to build on their skills to achieve greater independence.

Success Stories

The service is a 3 bedroom Victorian property situated in the Roath area of Cardiff. The service comprises of a ground floor bedroom, staff sleep in room and comfortable living/ dining area, there is a fully fitted kitchen with small breakfast bar . The garden is enclosed and private with a patio area with flower borders where the ladies regularly entertain with their summer BBQ. The first floor comprises of a large wet room which also includes a bath, there are a further 2 bedrooms.

Full needs and risk assessments completed by trained and experienced staff in association with the individual and anyone else they wish to be involved in the process such as family, case manager, advocate or friend. Provision of an individually designed person centred support package to include assistance in activities to maintain independence. Support to service users with a range of activities will include areas such as budget planning and support with finances (we can become appointee if required), meal planning , preparation and shopping, planning social and leisure activities including college, voluntary work and establishing community links. We will promote self advocacy as well as health promotion and access to GP/dentist, medication (assistance/support). Staff can also provide access to professionals as identified in individual support plans such s psychiatrists, occupational therapists, community psychiatric nurses and primary care trusts.

Kelly has over 12 years experience working with clients who have a learning and physical disability, mental health, challenging behaviour and drug and alcohol misuse. Kelly has been with Regard for 12 years starting as a support worker and working her way up to senior and then onto the service manager position. During the time that Kelly has been with Regard she has attained both her NVQ’s level 3 and 4 RMA in health and social care. Kelly is currently working towards a higher apprenticeship qualification in Leadership & Management. The senior has achieved a housing accommodation related degree in the local university;NVQ level 2, QCF level 3.

Rhiba has entered 3 pieces of her artwork into a local open exhibition that is being run by The Gate Gallery, The Gate arts and community centre 2015.
