Alderton House, our residential service in Littleport held a big picnic last week as part of a Regard wide incentive to help raise money for charity.
Our chosen national charity this year is YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young adults. Any money raised from our picnics and other events to be held throughout the year will go to further this important work.
Guy Page, Regard’s head of communications, said: “The ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’ is a great way for our staff teams, the people we support, friends and family to all get together and raise money for an amazing charity and to celebrate the work they do whilst also having fun.
There was a cake stall, a tombola, guess the teddies name, guess the number of sweets in the jar and hook a duck.
However, the highlight of the afternoon which all of the people we support and staff enjoyed thoroughly was soaking the staff for the cost of £1, this can be seen in the photographs and was a lot of fun.
The team got involved by wearing yellow YoungMinds t-shirts and everyone had a very entertaining and pleasant afternoon. The picnic raised an excellent total of £227 for YoungMinds.
Theresa Clarey, the service manager at Alderton House also said: “It was evident that all the staff had worked very hard to put the afternoon together.” Everyone is now looking forward to the next event, but they aren’t so excited to have sponges thrown at them again!
