Cloverdale, our residential service in Hove, held a picnic and garden party as part of ‘Regard’s Big Picnic Fortnight’. They also invited along friends from neighbouring Regard service from Maldon House to spend the afternoon together.
Guy Page, Regard’s head of communications, said: “The ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’ is a great way for our staff teams, the people we support, friends and family to all get together and raise money for an amazing charity and to celebrate the work they do whilst also having fun.”
The day consisted of music, singing and dancing. Caroline, who lives at Cloverdale, sang her signature tune ‘Sweet Caroline’ and everyone had fun socialising and having tea out in the garden.
There was tombola with lots of great prizes, which raised £40.00 for YoungMinds, Regard’s chosen charity for the year contributing to an amazing total of more than £3000 across Regard so far.
The Service Manager at Maldon House, Dawn Robbins, said: “It was a lovely afternoon; everyone had such a wonderful time. The tombola was a great success and everyone was a winner and went home with a prize. Donations came from staff and families which very generous of everyone.”
Trevor, who is the Service Manager at Cloverdale, said: “I was sent to the kitchen to prepare the food which was a lovely buffet. All of the people we support had a lovely lunch and there was lots of singing from Caroline Matthews. Everybody who attended won some lovely raffle prizes.”
Alex, who is supported by Maldon House, said that he had a good time; he smiled all afternoon and was thrilled at winning his prize on the tombola.
Everyone made the most of the good weather and is looking forward to another event like this soon.
