Last week Highdowns, our residential service in Camborne, held a tea and cake afternoon for Epilepsy Action. This of course included purple cakes and purple drinks. Highdowns was just one of Regard’s 149 services which turned purple to raise awareness about Epilepsy.
Epilepsy affects around one in every 100 people in the UK and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day.
Highdowns raised a total of £38.74 from donations from people within the service, staff and family members.
The people we support got involved by helping to make the cakes with help from staff and even some family members of the team got involved in the action. Ian Nott, who lives at Highdowns said “Purple day was fantastic and the cakes were fam dazy dozy”.
It was both a fun and successful day all-round with lots of money raised for a good cause.
