Oak Lodge and Hillview, two of our residential services in Polegate recently took part in Regard’s ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’.
All over the country the people who live or work at our supported living and residential services came together to take part in ‘Regard’s Big Picnic Fortnight’ and raised money in support of YoungMinds, which we recently voted as our charity of the year.
At the picnic there was a raffle, a lucky dip, face painting, a cake stall, ‘find the joker’ game stall and a barbeque. There was music, tea, coffee and lots of fun as can be seen in all of the photographs.
Tina, support worker, and some of the people who live at our nearby Eastbourne Road service also came along and ran a lemonade stall which went down very well.
There were friends, family, staff and people that we support at the event and even some old friends (ex-staff members) came along for the afternoon.
A member of staff, John Sawyer, promised to let the youngest member of staff Courtney Jenner shave off his beard if the picnic raised £50 or more, this can be seen in the photographs. The picnic was a huge success, raising an incredible £200 which is four times their target. This has contributed to the impressive £3000 Regard has raised collectively so far.
Geraldine, the senior support worker at Oak Lodge, said: “We had a lovely day and everyone enjoyed all the fun and games and of course the cakes. We had so many raffle prizes donated, including bowling from our local sports centre and cinema tickets from two different cinemas. This is Oak Lodge and Hillview at their very best; working together.”
