Stephen Carter, who is supported by the team at our Llwyngwian Fawr residential service in Gwynedd, has always loved fishing. The service is on the West Coast of Wales and has always been the ideal location for a budding fisherman.
In 2016 Phil Wood, who is well known in the fishing industry and has won many fishing titles in Wales came to work at Llwyngwian Fawr. He introduced Stephen to ‘fly-fishing’ and since then he has taken a real interest in the sport and has visited different lakes and even visited a fish farm.
He has plans to visit many more as the service is surrounded by wonderful lakes to visit and to fish in. Stephen loves his new hobby and has purchased lots of fishing attire and equipment to support his new favourite activity.
Stephen has been supported by Phil who has taught him how to make trout flies and learn new casting techniques.
Karen, the service manager at Llwyngwian Fawr said: “This has been a great confidence boost for Stephen as he is meeting new people and learning new skills. He is also learning new bus routes as he sometimes travels independently and meets Phil at a named destination”.
Stephen said that he is looking forward to his next fishing trip and hopes to catch some fish for tea.
