A fantastic day was had and enjoyed by all at Arrowe Hall to help raise money for MIND.
Steff, who leads the team at Arrowe Hall, observed, ‘The day started dark and dreary. We all looked to the sky and prayed someone would listen and part the curtains of heaven to let in some sunshine. The support staff at Arrowe Hall slaved away in the rain with looks of dismay in their eyes, moving tables and hanging balloons. All of a sudden, Andy, Deputy Manager, got out the BBQ, not deterred by the rain like a true hero; then the unthinkable happened, as if someone above had heard our prays, a giant gap appeared in the sky above and the sunshine showed its glorious face. Everyone cheered, looking forward to a fun-filled day in the sun.’
With the BBQ cooking, the cake stall smelling sweet, tea, coffee, the massage with aromatherapy and smelly candles, the air smelt good with promises to come. The bouncy castle came to life and the bric-a-brac store was full of unwanted treasures. Various characters were running around the green which were children transformed by the face painter and everyone danced as the Tone Junkies played their guitars.
The stars of the show, of course, were Natalie, Service Manager from Domcare Cheshire, and Evette, Locality Manager, who graciously gave up their dignity for the day to be summand to the stocks. There were squeals of joy and laughter as everyone took turns to throw cream plates and wet sponges at the brave pair who truly took one for the team and raised £66.
The day finished off with a raffle with prizes donated from many generous companies and individuals from across Wirral. All in all a little over £667 was raised for MIND on the day which was an amazing effort by the staff and service users of Arrowe Hall who worked hard to make the lovely day happen.
Steff summed up the day saying, ‘I want to thank everyone that was involved in the planning of the day and hope to repeat the success of the fundraiser soon.’
