Uplands House, one of our residential care services in Newbridge, enjoyed a ‘Big Picnic’ this summer to help support and raise money for YoungMinds; which is Regard’s voted charity of the year.
The event was part of a company-wide ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’ which saw services all over the country hosting events. We have so far raised over £3,000 from all the events – which is a great start to the year!
On the day of the event Uplands House invited friends, family, neighbours and staff to all join in and take part. The people they support all got involved by helping bake cakes and putting up decorations.
They had plenty on offer to support their fundraising efforts from a BBQ, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, a wet the manager sponge competition, colouring and even a hula hoop competition.
The day turned out to be a great success and raised over £56. The feedback from everyone involved was positive with Daryl, Chrissie and Richard, who all live at the service, saying that they enjoyed eating the cakes and had fun playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey.
Ann, the service manager, said: ‘Everyone enjoyed taking part and it was a pleasure to see the amount of people that turned up for the event, we can’t wait to host another one soon.’
YoungMinds is a charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young adults.
