Last week, our residential care service, Llwyngwian Fawr in Gwynedd, held a successful summer picnic as part of Regard’s ‘Big Picnic Fortnight’ to help raise money and awareness for our voted charity of the year YoungMinds.
Instead of a traditional picnic Llwyngwian Fawr decided to hit the countryside for a sponsored walk. Two of the people they support, Terry and Stephen, also took part in the walk.
They were extremely lucky with the weather as the sun was out and shining brightly all the way. They walked 10.2 miles along the picturesque Mawddach Trail and stopped to have their picnic with stunning views of the estuary and hills in the background (as you can see from the photographs).
Karen, the service manager, said: “We all enjoyed the walk and the scenery was beautiful, we also got to discover and see plenty of wildlife along the way. We are all feeling a bit sore now though.”
They managed to raise over £90 through sponsorship and are all looking forward to their next event/walk.
YoungMinds is a charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young adults.
Similar events across many of Regard’s services have already raised over £3000 this summer.
