Will, who lives at Cerrig Cornel, our supported living service in Tywyn recently took a lovely five day trip to the seaside resort of Blackpool with support from the team at Cerrig Cornel.

It has been a dream of Will’s to go on a holiday to Blackpool as he had fond memories of spending his childhood on holiday there. Edwina, the activities coordinator at the service looked into everything for him and together they planned lots of different fun activities that he could take part in. After planning the holiday for him Edwina asked support worker Adam to accompany Will on the trip.

Will and Adam had great fun visiting lots of different places. They visited Madame Tussauds, where they met and took photographs with lots of different celebrities from Bear Grylls to Simon Cowell. They also got to spend some time in the ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ jungle with Ant and Dec, where they took part in some ‘bush-tucker trials’, luckily for Will this did not involve eating anything disgusting. They also visited the arcades at Coral Island where Will had his fortune read.

Will came across all kinds of interesting things to have his photograph taken with; including a pink Cinderella carriage which he got to also have a ride in. He also had a play around in a house of mirrors which was very funny and can be seen in the photographs.

As Edwina said: “You can’t go to Blackpool and not go and visit the Blackpool tower”, as you can see from the photographs on the right Will had a great time seeing the tower even if it was a bit rainy.

On the fourth day of Will and Adam’s trip they visited the zoo, where they saw many different animals such as tortoises, meerkats, monkeys, gorillas and sea lions.

In the evenings they enjoyed some great entertainment at the camp where they were staying. Will and Adam got to sing karaoke and everyone gave them a huge round of applause which gave Will an amazing last evening. Adam said that Will sang along with many songs and left on a high.

Will could not stop talking about his wonderful trip all the way home and in the service afterwards. Will thanked Adam for taking him and said: “It was a fantastic holiday!”.
